Now that the electricity was on, and in
preparation for our Open House on Saturday, September 22, 2001,
we conducted our second general work day. We focused on the outside
(once again) and on the second floor of the Haines House.

Here we see Beth Gray and Pat Sacha working on
the hall stairways (Just what is Beth measuring?)

Ginny
Daniel, who organized our first public display at Carnation Days
in the Park, displays a sunny attitude while digging and edging
around the front sidewalks.

Evelyn Brown, Society
Vice President and one of the founding members of the Haines
House group, got busy upstairs in the Grant Bedroom.
. |

Annette Greenwald, President of the City's Historic Preservation
Commission brought her daughter along and pitched in with Haines
House Board member Jennifer Crist to help clean up the yard.
There was no shortage of stuff to do.

When they got outside, Beth & Pat went scrounging and found
the old well cover which had been missing the backyard. Beth
proved quite resourceful later and helped secure valuable flagstone
for later use in the yard, as well.

This building, an old plumbing supply store,
sits immediately behind the Haines House and is scheduled to
be demolished by the City in this Fall. The Society hopes to
acquire the land. That will make TWO tenths of an acre out of
the original 126 acres the Haines House once stood on.
