In attendance: Kay Brown, Joe Zelasko, Gordon Harrison, Jesse Harry Jr., Jennifer Crist, Frank Barrett, Virginia Proctor, Pat Sacha, L. Jean Webster, Maxine Haupt, Maryjo Hepler, Martha McClaugherty, Robb Hyde.
The meeting was held in the cafeteria of Alliance High School and was opened by President Robb Hyde at 7:10 PM. There was a motion to dispense with the reading of the October minutes because Robb was short on time.
Treasurer's Report
There was one pledge for $100. The balance in the checking account is $857.75. There was one dispersement of $22 for the post office box. Gordon reminded us to look for pledges! L. Jean Webster noted that she thought the Alliance Lions were going to pledge $200.
President's Report
Robb said that messages left with the Straubhaars have been unreturned. He finally spoke with Beth Straubhaar two weeks ago and she expressed confusion over the difference between the Alliance Historical Society and the Alliance Area Preservation Society. Robb talked with the Staubhaar's attorney and they want a proviso eliminating the oversight of the furniture by the Alliance Historical Society. Our attorney, Bob Hunter Jr. suggested that we go ahead and make an offer with our conditions.
Robb handed out copies of a comparison of the three different appraisals of the furniture.
Jesse Harry made a motion that Bob Hunter Jr. make an offer to the Straubhaar's attorney of $30,000 for the house and contents. Gordon Harrison seconded it and the motion carried.
Other Business
Gordon Harrison brought a bonnet to show the group that belonged to Sarah Haines that he had found while doing some cleaning at the Mabel Hartzell Museum.
Communications Committee
Maryjo Hepler gave a program to the Sons of the American Revolution. $50.00 was received as a donation. There has been a request to do a program on the Underground Railroad to the SAR/DAR in Canton on February 18.
The next meeting will be December 18, 2000 at the Alliance High School cafeteria.
